Hello,

Just downloaded & installed Skype to keep in touch with a family member moving abroad.

Often when I start up Skype my Malwarebytes Anti Malware software brings up a warning message:-

"Malwarebytes' Anti Malware has successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website: 85.234.177.249"

When I do some sleuthing I find the above IP address belongs to the Hotel Avalon in Riga, Latvia. Can anyone throw some light on this as I'm finding myself wary of using Skype now.

Malwarebytes also ocasionally flags up a similar message referring to another couple of IP addressess when I run Skype:-

85.234.177.253 - this again appears to belong to the Avalon Hotel in Riga

79.135.139.199 - all I can find on this one is - microlines.lv

I do not need to be running a browser for this to happen - merely opening Skype from the desktop.

I have done a full scan with Avira AntiVir, Malwarebytes Anti Malware and Spybot and they all say my PC is clean. I have also done a Trend HouseCall on line scan and again nothing found, I even downloaded SuperAntiSpyware, again nothing found.

I'd appreciate any comments, thanks,

taidllanfair

Skype is a P2P (peer to peer) application, and as such, connects to millions of different IPs, some safe, some not. It doesn't usually require specific IPs because of the P2P technology, so you can ignore these.
