This afternoon, while browsing the internet, I discovered that my Dell (Windows XP Media Center Edition) is infected with the dastardly xp2011 antispyware virus. I previously had Malwarebytes software installed on said platform, but the virus would not let me access it to do a scan in order to eradicate it. I attempted an uninstall/reinstall (have two other computers in the house, both clean, both Macs) via a download to cdrom. No luck again. Tried in safe mode and still no luck. Can't figure out which process it is in the task manager window. No longer have internet access via the Dell as the rogue program is blocking me.

I know just enough about computers to be dangerous to them and myself. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Buttercup53

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

Please reboot to Safe Mode (tap the F8 key just before Windows starts to load and select the Safe Mode option from the menu). There, please update MBAM.exe to explorer.com; see if it will run. If so, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, download DDS by sUBs and save it to your Desktop.

Double-click on the DDS icon and let the scan run. When it has run two logs will be produced, please post only DDS.txt directly into your reply.
