xp total security 2011

Recommended Posts

Greetings, oh great ones,

Hi, I'm Brandon. You may remember me from such infections as "Phantom audio ads" and "Google redirect."

On a more serious note, I am a recent victim of the xp total security 2011 threat. The executable in the task manager is gcy.exe, which loads everytime I attempt to run MBAM. Spybot only turned up registry override changes to anti-virus and firewall settings. I also cannot connect to the internet on the infected computer, stating in the browser window (to the effect of) "blocked by total security 2011."

I am at your mercy, please be gentle :D

Additional note: I followed the sticky topic about this threat and am currently running MBAM on the infected computer as MBAM.com. It is running full scan right now, I will post the log when finished. Also this forum really needs a "modify post" button, and if it already does, it needs to make it bigger

Nevermind, crisis averted! The steps in the sticky topic worked beautifully. Feel free to delete this topic, mark it solved, or do what you need to... next time, I will remember to read the sticky topics first.
