Her teenage son got on her computer without permission and the computer was infected with a password virus. Booting into safe mode with networking I was able to install MBAM and run the scan. This photo is of the results of that scan. I had never seen more than about 15-20 infections on any computer prior to this scan. Malwarebytes rocks! 1PW Posted May 4, 2011 ID:424634 Share Posted May 4, 2011 I cleansed an eight year old Dell Dimension 8250 XP Pro a some months ago of over 800 pieces of malware for a relative. That system still lives to this day! The owner now has MBAM PRO installed (and other additions) but still no NAT router for the broadband Internet connection though I'm lobbying for that change.See this for an explanation of some infection vectors. noknojon Posted May 4, 2011 ID:424672 Share Posted May 4, 2011 Hi -I just cleaned one (XP SP3) for some people near here and got about 400 from SAS , then I used MBAM and got another about 400 -Next I put MSE on it and that got about 30 or 40 later - They still had infections mounting up after each clean -I selected about half to remove each time so the system would not crash fully , and it took a day just to do that -You need to do this in safe mode first , and then move to normal mode after the basic infections are gone or it crashes -Going back in the next few days (once the system settles) to run a few other programs and hope to finally clean it -People wonder why it takes 10 or 15 mins to boot up , Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
