Trojan.zlob - unsure if I "got it out"

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

Like many other people on this forum, I am seeing symptoms associated with what I think is the trojan.zlob malware. For example, I was seeing a mysterious pop-up claiming to be Windows security claiming that I had the trojan.zlob, and I was frequently closing it and going about my work.

As I recall, I closed this trojan.zlob warning window a few times this past week and had no problems. However, today, it caused me an unexpected computer restart and apparently hijacked Internet Explorer (which I was using because Firefox was unresponsive). I read online about a quick fix for the IE problem, started windows in safe mode, and deleted kjzna1562565.exe as well as the spcffwl.dll found in "C:/documents and settings/(user)/application data/google". This got rid of the phony IE error message about security.

However, I found that Firefox (my default browser) was loading the webpages for "Perfect Defender", which I have read is malware / spyware program disguised as an anti-malware / anti-spyware. I wanted to ensure that I had removed whatever malware(s) were causing these symptoms.

I updated the definitions for malwarebytes and ran a quick scan, which detected some trojans which I then eliminated. However, I'm hestiant to feel safe now, and would like the input of the HJT crew if there are any additional steps I should take.

As was suggested by HJT, I have attached the scan results for malwarebytes, panda, HJT, and hope that the staff can make some useful security recommendations for me.

I am running Windows XP, Media Center Edition, Version2002, Service Pack 3.

Take care,

-TheMoose
