Hi All:)

Ive removed a malware with malware bytes that faked a alert for hard drive failure. as soon as i was infected i lost 70 % of my desktop icons and the background went black. after i cleaned it, i still have the loss of desktop. i can search for the files that were on my desktop and open them via a search but even if i try to save such a file to the desktop i still cant see it. hope someone can help.

Hi,

Download unhide.exe & save it to your windows folder: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/grinler/unhide.exe

Right click on unhide.exe and select Run as administrator (In case you have Vista or Win7)

Reboot

This will unhide folders/files that were set to be hidden by the infection you had.

Let me know if that solved your problem.
