I read in one of the forums, which I now cannot remember where, a procedure for renaming Malwarebyte Modules, so you have them under a different name that a "nasty" cannot keep from running. Can Someone provide the details, ie, which modules, new folder, etc. Thank You Much.

PS: I see so many posts on different forums where a user cannot get the APP to scan or update, and it seems to me that renaming or copying / renaming is a very simple solution to that problem.

Greetings :)

There are many removal tutorials here, several of which provide details on renaming it in order to get it to run. I hope that is helpful.

Thank you for the info. Sorry to have bothered you; after I posted, realized I could have done a search for "rename" and found the articles. But two more question.

The posts say to rename the setup & execute modules to explorer.exe.

1. Wouldn't the person who stopped the other process know this from reading the removal posts also. Or can I rename those apps anything I want.

2. After removal is complete, shouldn't I download / install again, and not rename ?

It depends, some infections only allow files by a certain name, such as explorer.exe to run, others block based on file extension, so renaming it to .com allows it to run. It's all about figuring out what the infection allows (and some allow nothing at all, but that's less frequent because it renders the PC unusable in most cases).

No, there's no need for that, just browse to the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Program Files folder and rename it back to mbam.exe and it will be normal again, renaming the installer (mbam-setup.exe) won't have any effect on the installation itself.
