Slow computer.

Hi Pablo2011:

There could be several reasons (excluding malware), before someone could give a pinpointed response, please provide following details:

  1. OS version and Service Pack (if any)?
  2. System details:
    • Processor
    • RAM
    • Hard drive (empty space in system partition)

[*]Installed Security Product(s) including Firewall?

[*]How often you empty Temp Folder?

[*]How often you run Disk Defragmenter?

Hello Pablo2011,

Can you please run a quick scan in MBAM. Then save the log to your desktop.

After running MBAM please: Create an Autoruns Log:

  • Please download Sysinternals Autoruns from here and save it to your desktop.
    • Note: If using Windows Vista or Windows 7 then you also need to do the following:
      1. Right-click on Autoruns.exe and select Properties
      2. Click on the Compatibility tab
      3. Under Privilege Level check the box next to Run this program as an administrator
      4. Click on Apply then click OK

    [*]Double-click Autoruns.exe to run it.

    [*]Once it starts, please press the Esc key on your keyboard.

    [*]Now that scanning is stopped, click on the Options button at the top of the program and select Verify Code Signatures so that it is now checked

    [*]Click on the Options button again and this time uncheck Hide Microsoft and Windows Entries

    [*]Once that's done press the F5 key on your keyboard, this will start the scan again, this time let it finish.

    [*]When it's finished and says Ready. on the lower left of the program window, please click on the File button at the top of the program and select Save and save the Autoruns.arn file to your desktop and close Autoruns.

    [*]Right click on the Autoruns.arn file on your desktop and hover your mouse over Send To and select Compressed (zipped) Folder

    [*]Attach the Autoruns.zip folder you just created to your next reply

Please attach both the autoruns report and the scan log from MBAM.

Hello Pablo2011,

Could you please check to ensure your Java is up-to-date. If Internet Explorer is still going slow for you:

Java check for up-to-date is HERE

Please open autoruns. Go to the Internet Explorer Tab.

Please Uncheck:

Java Plug-in 2 SSV Helper

JQSIEStartDetectorImpl Class

Then close autoruns and restart your system.

Hello pablo!

I am glad that worked out for you! If you are still looking for ways on speeding up your PC Samuel posted a great guide HERE.

Also, if your Java is out-of-date you may want to Update Java:

  • Click on Start and select Control Panel and click Add\Remove Programs
  • Look for any entries related to Java and uninstall them
  • Once that's done download JavaRa from here
  • Extract it and double click it to run it
  • Select the language you desire
  • Click the Remove Older Versions button
  • Click here to visit Java's website.
  • Scroll down to Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 24. Click on Download.
  • Select Windows from the drop-down list for Platform.
  • Select Multi-language from the drop-down list for Language.
  • Check (tick) I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement box and click on Continue.
  • Click on the jre-6u24-windows-i586 link to download it and save this to a convenient location.
  • Double click on jre-6u24-windows-i586 to install Java.
