XP Security Tool - Followed other topics still can't remove

Recommended Posts

Like many others, I've somehow managed to get infected. I've read through other similar topics but haven't been able to remove the virus. I know the virus changes the file association with exe files which makes it difficult to add new software to detect/remove it. I've edited the exe association in RedEdit a few times but as I haven't removed the virus its a useless exercise.

I have run OTH and OTL, and have attached the txt files.

I've run some online scans, avast and norton. They haven't found anything. I cannot seem to run any other files and the Security virus prevents the install.

Thanks in advance.

Carefully read and follow this Guide.

Make sure you run rkill and then immediately run MBAM as desribed.

Most important....update MBAM before you run it.
