Hi AntiMalware Experts,

A bit embarrased to report this infection - so far only affecting Google Chrome on my Toshiba Tecra A11 laptop (Win7 x64).

Up till now was 10+ years without any problem at all!

MBAM deeps scan reports nothing more serious than tracking cookies.

Any help appreciated.

Chris.

:welcome:

Please don't attach the scans / logs from these scans, use "copy/paste".

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:

1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them

2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

Note: Close all browsers before running ATF Cleaner: IE, FireFox, etc.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

Thanks for the reply.

In between sending my first post and replying here I also did an online scan using the ESET online scanner. It found 6 problems, which I deleted, and after that chrome began behaving itself - though it may have deleted the MBR on an exernal USB HDD that I had attached at the time (!).

Nevertheless I followed your instructions & ran ATFKiller. TDSKiller found nothing, Gooredfix.exe found 1 issue which I fixed.

The TDSKiller log is attached, but from my POV (USB HDD notwithstanding) my system is cured!

Thanks for your response.
