MBAM and Vista

Recommended Posts

I have run another Defender scan on my Vista Premium. When I look in the Defender History, I get the following:

=================

Description:

This program has potentially unwanted behavior.

Resources:

regkey

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\

file:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

==================

What should I do about this one?

I posted a previous exception regarding MBAM and Defender history, relating to Swiss Army.

Why are these exceptions showing up?

I am thinking maybe I should have posted this in the False/Positive section.

It is just very confusing seeing these items show in the Defender History when I am so very new at this, etc.

What should I do? Would you know? Should I just leave it like it is in the Defender History?

Most likely they show up because the programs/files in mbam that defender is flagging are doing some pretty low-level stuff in order to block/remove rootkits and other difficult infections and they've not yet been whitelisted by MS (probably have to pay them for that to get digital signatures etc).

I am really confused. Does MBAM know about these items that are appearing in the Defender's History section?

Am I (are we) going to continuously see these MBAM items posted in the Vista's Defender's History section?

If so, what do I (we) do about it? Should I just delete the entries, or as I said, are they going to continue to appear in the Defender's History section?

Should I just disregard them?

The only items I've seen in the Defender History section are MBAM items, so far.

I think it might be easier for me to just uninstall MBAM, if it is not working 'properly' with Defender.

As I mentioned previously, I am a newcomer with computers, Vista, MBAM and these 'exceptions' are quite alarming, as I do not know why they are showing up and what to do about them.

I should think that other Vista owners are also seeing these MBAM items in their Defender's History section.

Just the ramblings of a novice, who is quite confused and who likes to know why something is happening and what I can do to correct it and prevent it from happening in the future.

Excuse my seemingly 'stupid' questions and comments.

Alice

This is not a false positive by malwarebytes, so this should be posted here.

I'm sure the developers know they are there, and they are nothing to worry about. Malwarebytes will and is getting along just fine with Windows Defender, just ignore those entries.

I agree, those entries from Defender have been there for as long as I've used MBAM and it has never affected how MBAM performed or hindered my systems in any way.
