My son has managed to download this malware to my work laptop. It has disabled windows security and and Add/Remove programs form my control panel and I am unable to access the internet from either IE 8 or Safari so I cannot download Malwarebytes to it. How can I get round this?

Windows XP Pro with SP3

Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome, Stallion:

Sorry to hear that your computer is infected.

Alas, we do not work on malware removal in this particular sub-forum.

However, free, expert assistance can be found at the malware removal-HJT forum.

Instructions on how to proceed are posted in the 2nd Important Topic pinned at the top of this forum: "I'm Infected - What Do I Do Now?".

Here's how to get started checking and cleaning your system:

1. First, please go to THIS PAGE, print out, read and follow as many instructions as you can, skipping any you are unable to complete.

If you can get into safe mode with networking you may be able to install MBAM on the infected computer; be sure to update it before scanning.

2. Then, please describe your computer's symptoms as best you can and post the requested logs by starting a new thread at the Malware Removal-HJT forum.

If not, and if the infection has so crippled the system that you cannot get MBAM or DDS to download/install/run, then just explain that in your post at the Malware Removal forum.

One of the authorized, trained experts will then assist you as soon as possible for one-on-one malware detection and removal.

When you post, please be sure to select Track This Topic & choose one of the email options, so that you will be notified when someone responds.

Please allow 24-48 hours before bumping your thread.

Other Support Options:

Alternatively, as a paying customer using MBAM PRO, you may wish instead to start a support ticket by contacting support at: support@malwarebytes.org; or

Premium, fee-based support options are available here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/premium-support.php.

Also, please use the "Add Reply" button when replying here & at the other boards, so that it will be easier for everyone to follow the thread.

I hope this gets you started on cleaning up your system,

Hi, Stallion:

No problem -- the "General" forum comes up first on the Board Index page, so it's pretty common for newcomers to post here, rather than in the Malware Removal section.

The instructions in the "I'm Infected" article can seem a bit daunting -- just take your time, and follow them as best you can. It helps to print them out. :)

(If you do manage to get MBAM and DDS to run, please note that it is requested that the resulting logs be copied/pasted into the text of your post at the Malware board, rather than attached to it.)

Good luck!
