Installation / Program updates

I am running the free version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware without automatic updates or resident protection.

Unlike TrDo in the following thread, I have never received a message to restart my system to complete the installation or a program update:

Yet the program seems to be fully functional and in the case of the upgrade from Version 1.30 to 1.31 the program reflected the new version level.

I did however note that the following HKLM\...\RunOnce registry entry is added during both the installation and subsequent program updates:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]"Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware"="C:\\Program Files\\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\\mbamgui.exe /install /silent"

What is the purpose of running "mbamgui.exe" with the parameters of "/install /silent" on the first system start after the installation or a program update?

It's added so it will run when the computer reboots in the case that you are using the paid version. And as the installer is the same for the free and the pro versions, it is the same for each. If you reboot after installing, it will delete itself from the RunOnce key.
