Occasionally, when I go to view certain forum posts (usually the older ones with logs posted) firefox hangs and becomes unresponsive. I end up having to manually shut down firefox just to get it to work again.

Hello malvern: :welcome:

Yes. Although your browser need not be shutdown, the forum's server/network is showing signs of overload.

I hope it's not a DDOS attack or the like.

Hello 1PW,

Yes I've noticed the site has been slower as well, and I certainly hope it isn't a ddos either. MBAM has been nothing but good to me.:)

But the problem I am experiencing actually causes firefox to hang and eventually crash. I first noticed this when I googled a problem I was having, and clicked on a thread that had been posted here. Afterwords, my browser immediately froze and crashed. This seems to happen every time I try to view this certain thread, but I have also noticed this with other threads as well.

Original thread: forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=66225

There is nothing in the forums that would cause Firefox to hang. Contrary to what malvern has said, this is not the sign of a server or network issue- if Firefox itself is completely unresponsive than it sounds like a bug with Firefox. It could be that you have an extension blocking things up- you may want to try disabling extensions and enabling them one by one to see if any of them are responsible.

Additionally, we aren't having any network issues at the moment, nor would I consider it typical behavior.

Mine took a good 30 seconds to open the page, it happened with no other pages, like Facebook, or the McAfee forums.

:huh::blink:

Which version of firefox are you using? I'm not discounting the idea that there might be a problem, but if people using other browsers are having no issues then it does seem browser related. If you don't mind it would be very helpful if you could open a second browser and attempt to load the forums when you encounter this problem with Firefox- if only one browser of two is having an issue on the same computer then that will certainly help narrow it down.

I did as you said, and everything else seems to be fine now. Except for that one thread, I get stuck at "transferring data from paypal.com" and have to close and restart.

One thing we've noticed is that Firefox chokes on long "code" blocks in IPB. When MBAM logs are placed into "code" blocks instead of "quote" blocks it causes the syntax highlighting script to come into play, and for some reason the latest versions of Firefox do not like this at all.

I think that might be it. When I viewed the thread in Internet Explorer, it still took a while to load, but didn't hang and crash like it did with firefox.

When the trouble was present, I was working in our group's area.

The last report entry I made took probably a minute to acknowledge.

At that point I paused for a break. An hour later, the trouble had passed.

Perhaps nearby hardware/network maintenance was being undertaken.

Loads fine for me on (...) Firefox

Same here, with version 3.6.16. It lags a bit for about 1 second upon loading the page but it's barely noticeable and it only lasts for so long.

I have to say though, I've been experiencing the same thing as 1PW

At approximately 10 minutes passed this last hour, responses from the server were taking greater than one minute. Since then, the response time has improved to the point where the problem seems to have passed.
