Hello I've recently discovered I have been infected by xp total security 2011, which i believe has installed other malware and constantly opens up a pop up that looks like Windows security center. Whenever i click on the install exe for malwarebytes xkv.exe loads up (as seen in windows task manager) and the pop up comes up regardless. Basically yesterday i installed Microsoft security essentials on the computer and it runs a lot faster.(MSE detected and removed the following Win32/PowerRegScheduler, TrojanDropper:win32/Dunik!rts, Trojan:win32/Embhit.c, Worm:win32/Autorun.SW, Trojan:win32/Provis!rts, Trojan:win32/Embhit.c....everything is repeated twice for the 2 scans i performed)

I'm new to the forum so I'm sorry i didn't post relevant data, logs etc. I felt it was important to mention the computer is running Windows xp home edition version 2002 sp3, the computer has other AV software that hasn't been uninstalled, Java is outdated, the computer is currently disconnected from the router that it is usually wired to.

Thank you for your time and I really appreciate the help

- Jay

Hello, and welcome to Malwarebytes.org

As we don't deal with malware removal in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum, you need to start a topic in the Malware Removal forum so a qualified helper can help you fix any malware related problems/infections you may have.

You can follow the directions below and someone will assist you with running scans on your system to see if they can detect anything.

Please print out, read and follow the Directions HERE, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.

One of the expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that you're alerted when someone has replied to your post.

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org

Thank you very much.
