Infected Laptop

Sounds familiar

My laptop has been infected since last Thursday when I opened an e-mail attachment that seemed to come from UPS (I was expecting a delivery).

So now I have these symptoms:

• frequent random playing of the windows sounds for exclamation or critical stop.
  
• long delays or hanging on Windows startup and closing.
  
• Internet explorer 8 freezes on startup with a blank window, then after terminating the program, it can open normally. But new blank browser windows may open automatically and freeze like the first one.
  
• the files "setup50045.fon, setup50045.lnk, autorun.inf, myporno.avi.lnk, pornmovs.lnk" keep appearing in local and network folders.
  

No problem detecting it. But no solution to get rid of it either.

Any help is welcome.

Is this a corporate computer? If not, please update MBAM, run a Quick Scan, and post its log.

Next, please run the PCPitstop Full Tests here (NOT the PCMatic scan or any other scan; simply register with the box on the left and you will be taken to the Full Tests/Overdrive Test). When the tests are complete, a results page will pop up. Copy and paste the URL of the Results screen and post it here for me.

The antivirus could not remove it, despite saying that it had every five minutes, and asking to reboot.

So I went ahead and wiped the disk, and by the way switched to Windows 7.
