I am using windows 7 with 32 bits. And i try to protect my pc from virus and malware. But recently i have to use a software which have some virus.I haven't another option without it.So,I need your help to solve it.

My harddisk is 500 GB.So i think if i install a new windows(XP) in my another drive,How it will be ?I will install XP only for use that software.I will use online but not try to login in my any online account from XP.

Just like that

C:(windows 7)

D:()

E:()

F:()

G:(windows XP)

Now my question is,if i run a virus/malware file at windows XP,will that malware attack windows 7 also ?My main operating system (means windows 7) have many log like Gmail, yahoo, paypal etc... Will those account log is attacked by windows XP malware ?

From one of my friend i listen,xp malware will not attack windows 7 log(It only attack own log's file). But i am not sure. Please please please please help me to solve this question.Waiting for your response.

Sincerely

Jason

your friend is mistaken (wrong) .

the same virus and malware that can get into XP can also get into W7 .

your wording is not too clear ...

do you want to install W7 on the same drive as your infected XP ?

having an infected drive is asking for trouble . it is like two people in the same house having the flu ... you can get infected from both .

do you have files on the XP that you need to save ? any of these can be infected .

if you transfer them to the new install of W7 , you can infect your new install .

the best thing to do is to clean up the old infected drive/XP first (unless you do a full reformat/wipe of the drive and loose all your data/important files) .

go here and follow the directions to the best of your ability ... and then start a new topic in the HJT thread :

OK, Look. I am not an expert but, I am in training. Please answer these questions

1. What is the software, and why do you need it?

2. Have you attempted to CLEAN the virus from the file?

3. Did you download the software, or purchase it.

Now back to your question.

Installing Windows XP along side Windows 7 (7 installed first)

Please print this post so you may better be able to follow these directions!!!

eusa_hand.gifSTOP! Before continuing make a backup of all of your important files, as this may cause system damage.

Just to add, if the xp drive can see the windows 7 drive and vice versa, both drives can be infected if on drive gets or has an infection. Viruses and malware are designed to spread. Even if you do not access the other drive, the virus or malware will go looking for it on its own.

Best solution is to clean the infection (or stop using the infected software).
