Unable to Start Protection

Recommended Posts

I just purchased, downloaded and registered Malware bytes.

During registration, when I select "Start Protection", I get the following error:

An error occurred, Please report ....

Error code: 732 (0,0)

I downloaded the mbam-clean utility, uninstalled Malware bytes, restarted PC, ran mbam-clean, restarted PC, re-installed Malware bytes.

I'm still getting the error.

I'm running MS Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

I have disabled User Account Control for Vista.

I see in the help file that this error occurs on 64 bit PCs.

How do I activate this?

If I can't, what benefit was it to me to pay for the registered copy?

Unfortunately the realtime protection module doesn't function in x64. This is due to the difference in driver requirements (which the realtime component in MBAM needs to function) in x64, particularly in Vista, as MS has a rather complicated, and limiting implementation of 64bit. As far as I know the developers are doing what they can to work out compatibility with Vista x64, but in the meantime you can still schedule scans and use automatic updates for MBAM which aren't available in the free version. If you don't want to wait it out until they get x64 working for MBAM then you can PM Marcin and I'm sure he will accomodate you with a refund, but I'd personally recommend being patient as MBAM is one of the best softwares of it's kind out there. No matter what you decide, we're here to help and answer any questions you might have. Good luck and safe surfing.

  • 2 weeks later...

Hello,

I bought two licenses of MBAM yesterday. After installing on my Vista x64 workstations I was surprised that I cannot activate the realtime protection. Now I found the information in this thread in the support forum.

There is no information on the product info website, that the "agent" is not running on Vista x64. I bought the software for the Realtime Protection.

When it is planed to release a version for Vista x64?

Best Regards

Tom

When it is planed to release a version for Vista x64?

Marcin and his team are very busy right now. They are doing their best to keep up, but there are so many priorities that full x64 compatibility is often set aside to get other things done. Because of this there is no time table on an x64 compatible version of the real-time protection.

If you would like a refund, then send a private message to Rubber Ducky, as mentioned above.
