MBAM and internet perforance

Recommended Posts

I am wondering if MBAM Pro (real-time) has any effect on download speed and general browsing with Firefox. Does all the data from the internet get filtered through MBAM Pro (real-time) and therefore effect performance? I have a dialup connection so it is very sensitive to any drag. Thanks for the help.

In general no it does not - at least not until the file has finished downloading and then at that time your Anti-Virus and MBAM will both check it. If it's a known bad file or site then it will block it before even allowing you to download it.

However any security program that is running with live protection is going to consume resources and slow things down some. How much greatly depends on the speed and available resources of your computer.

Thanks for the explanation. I am still a bit unclear on this.

You say if it is a bad file then MBAM Pro will block it before even allowing you to download it. So, MBAM Pro will check the file before or during the download process? You also say that it waits til the file is downloaded before checking it. This seems like a contradiction.

I am not too concerned about the use of computer resources or memory with MBAM Pro. I am mostly concerned about the effect on the dialup internet connection and performance.
