Vista 64 bit

Recommended Posts

I just purchased Anti-Malware not realizing the 64 bit OS incompatibility exists. The protection module is disabled but other wise the program works fine. Is a future version being worked on to resolve this?

Yes, if you see my post above, the developers are working on a 64bit compatible version but there is currently no time frame that I am aware of. The nice thing is, you have a lifetime subscription if you purchased the program so you don't have to worry about wasted license fees and the scheduled scanning and auto-updater do function in x64 as far as I know, which you don't get with the free version.

Sorry Vet, that is correct. The Protection Module does not work on 64 Bit Windows due to current Microsoft policies regarding this. It is being reviewed on what or how this can be dealt with but as stated there is no specific time frame of when this may be corrected.

How long am I going to have to wait for the 64bit version?

I have paid for this already!!!

:)

As already mentioned by Advanced Setup, there is o time frame at the moment.

We clearly display that only 32 bit systems are supported in the very first line of our 'Key Features':

Support for Windows 2000, XP, and Vista (32-bit only).

64 bit XP had been out for several years before Vista64 came along. Being built on server code it is MUCH more stable than 32 bit (IMHO) I have been running it for over two years myself without a single problem. I sure hope the Malwarebytes team can come up with a 64bit version soon. 64bit IS the future of Windows computing,,,

But HEY,,,, that's just me,,,

Well I've run it off and on as needed too and the DRIVER issue that was there years ago is still here today. There are more and more systems being sold with 64 Bit but all the driver and software compatibility problems have not been erased.

I think it's great overall too, but really with ALL the vendors would get on board and create new TRUE 64 Bit drivers and installers. Often the installer is still a 32 Bit installer, so even though the program is 64 Bit it gets put into the 32 Bit location.

You're right AdvancedSetup, most are building these "hybrid" type apps that use both 32bit and 64bit components making only the parts 64bit that they absolutely have to. The driver situation is much better now as far as finding them as long as the device is fairly current (within the last 2-3 years), although there are exceptions of course. Software's been moving in a better direction as well, at least for being compatible, being 64bit on the other hand is more rare which is kinda messed up because the 32bit emulation hurts a program's performance, often making 64bit systems seem slower even though they should be able to handle more. For Vista (which right now is far more commonly used in the 64bit flavor than XP due to it's wide end-user availability) making a security app that relies on 64bit drivers and kernel access is even tougher, both of which MBAM would require to be functional in realtime.

I am running Vista 64bit Ultimate and Kapersky Internet Securtiy, I also have SAS installed along with Malwarebytes V1.35 ( new today) and just becuase it doesnt have real time protection doesnt bother me at all, I am happy to support these great developers. I am sure they will get it sorted until then I can always scan my computer when needed. Thanks for all your great work.
