lupo Posted March 1, 2011 ID:394625 Share Posted March 1, 2011 I am installing Malwarebytes 1.50.1.1100 on a new hp laptop 64bit dual core with windows 7 service pack 1 installed. The program seems to install and run just fine, with one exception when I try to update the database information it won't. I am warned that (The database is outdated by 69 days. Would you like to update now?). When I select yes, I get this error: PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (12029,0, WinHttpSendRequest). I click OK and it won't update. Has anyone run into this before? Any help will be much appreciated
Mainard Posted March 1, 2011 ID:394639 Share Posted March 1, 2011 Hello Lupo,Please open command prompt and type: ping mbam-cdn.malwarebytes.org Please Verify you get a response from our update site. If not please let me know.Let's run an OTL log to see what can be the issue:Please Download OTL to your Desktop:To Use OTL:Get OTL From HEREDouble click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted. OTL should now start. Change the following settings Change Drivers to All Change Standard Registry to All Under File Scans, change File age to 30Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long. When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt (first run only). These are saved in the same location as OTL.Please attach these 2 files in your next reply.Thank you!
lupo Posted March 2, 2011 Author ID:395141 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Since the last post I have ran the scans you requested, attached, then I did a a complete uninstall and reinstall with no success. As a mater of fact I lost the specialized Malwarebyets shortcut icon and am down to a generic one. mbam-cdn.txtOTL.TxtExtras.Txt
Mainard Posted March 2, 2011 ID:395240 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Hello again!I mistyped my ping code it is supposed to be: ping data-cdn.mbamupdates.comPlease include within your Firewall this trusted site: data-cdn.mbamupdates.comAlso, please add exclusions in AVG for:mbam.exe & mbamservice.exePlease let me know the result of the ping and an update after you add the update site to your firewall.Thank you
lupo Posted March 7, 2011 Author ID:397067 Share Posted March 7, 2011 After adjusting my firewall Malwarebytes updated! I added the exclusions that you suggested to AVG. I reran the ping test with the new code as asked (see attached). I appreciate the help even though the problem was in my firewall and not with Malwarebytes itself, also this is the fastest response that I have ever had in a help forum.Thank younew mbam ping.txt
