Virtumonde can't get rid of lisufotu.dll

Recommended Posts

I am infected with SB S&D and Malwarebytes gets rid of everything except for a persistent registry entery that references lisufotu.dll. This shows up in my startup list. When I uncheck it it rechecks itself again.

Here is my log file from Malwarebytes

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes. Spybot Search & Destroy is not malware, is that what you mean by SBS&D?

Update MBAM and run a quick scan again post that log and then, please get HiJack This! install it to C:\Program Files

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running, and click on scan and save a log. Post that log as a reply here in the body of the post, not as an attachment

Here is the Hijack This log. Like I said in the oritional post the reference in the "run" line to listofu.dll is persistent. I delete it from my registry and it always reappears. the over time the file itself listofu.dll makes an reappearancel after being deleted.

Your MBAM log is not complete. Be sure you include all of the log. Please open Notepad and go to format, uncheck wrap text. You can recheck it later if you want, but for now I need to see the HJT lines as the program is seeing them.

Please set your system to show

all files; Click Start.

Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

Please find these files C:\WINDOWS\system32\fehudefu.dll c:\windows\system32\kegihane.dll c:\windows\system32\mahinomo.dll and attach then in a zipped folder here in a new topic you start, link back to your thread here in the HJT forum please.

Update MBAM run a quick scan, post that log and a new HJT log please.

none of those files are there right now as MBAM took care of them the last time I ran it. However it seems like when the computer sits overnight two different files reappear which MBAM will identify as malware. I will post a new MBAM and HiJackThis log right now, and will repeat in the morning when mutations of these files are sure to reappear.

I need those samples, I'm sure that is the root of the evil here. But I want to see the full MBAM log after you update it and a new HJT file. I don't need logs unless I ask for them.

How's it looking now?

I don't see any samples from you in the sample upload forum? What did you do with the O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\fehudefu.dll c:\windows\system32\kegihane.dll c:\windows\system32\mahinomo.dll ?

None of them were there. I did the unhide hidden and unhide protected system files too. Looked manually and did a file search. If they make a reappearance I will upload them before they get nuked by MBAM when I do a scan.

Well, they are not in the last log. How are you running? Please run HJT again and put a check next to the following and then click fix.

If you don't have a start page chosen, do choose one, so in the future if it changes due to malware you will see it immediately. Reboot.

You are running an outdated and unsafe version of Java. You need to uninstall it via Add/Remove programs and delete the program file also. Then go here Java Update and install the correct version for your system. Choose the offline installation. This is crucial.
