Can't get rid of trojans and viruses

It seems to be running ok now. Can you tell me what of the software I've installed should I keep and continue to use? I am assuming I don't need all of them, but what should I uninstall and what should always run in the background, vs be turned on for a periodic scan? I haven't been logging into anything online that needs a password to be on the safe side since I discovered the infection. Does this mean it's "Safe" now?

I cannot tell you what a huge help you has been. My husband was ready to give up on my computer! HUGE Thank you!

This is a good time to get rid of all unnecessary programs, because it's taking up extra resources that can be utilized for your more important needs. About Ad-Aware in my opinion, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is enough.

I hope except Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. Always is a serious word, maybe for the specific period of time. For example: In the end of every week or month or every single time that you suspect some suspicious acitivity.

It should be clean now. I highly recommend you to change all of your passwords.

Never give up! Glad I could help you! :)

but I tried to update Java and it won't install. I am not sure why. It may install if I retry it.

I recommend you to uninstall of Java items, then download and install the latest version from:

http://java.com/en/

Last steps for you:

Step 1

Go to Start => Run... and copy & paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /uninstall

Then hit Enter button.

This procedure will do the following:

  • Uninstall ComboFix
  • Delete its related folders and files
  • Reset your clock settings
  • Hide file extensions
  • Hide the system/hidden files
  • Resets System Restore again

Note: Make sure there's a space between ComboFix and /uninstall

Step 2

Please manually delete DDS, GMER and TDSSKiller.

Step 3

Please uninstall ESET Online Scanner.

Step 4

Keep your software up-to-date:

Safe surfing! :)

I am not sure why, but it won't install the Windows updates or the newest version of Java. For Windows Update, I got "Code 80070490" as the reason it couldn't install the updates. I looked through the "help" section and didn't get anywhere. For Java, I uninstalled the previous versions, but when I tried to download the newest one, I received this messsage: "Internal Error 2753. regutils.dll

Is this related at all?
