Yesterday I clicked on an image in Google Images and I was duped into believing that my PC was infected (I know, I know) but I panicked and clicked ok to scan. The box appeared with loads of infections and I realised what was really happening. I immediately closed down the browser and ran a full scan with MES ans a quick scan with MBAM (free). No infections found. The only unusual activity is that today the drop-down menu in Google search has begun to appear even though the bullet remains in the 'Do not use' position and I cannot get it to work. Is this just coincidence?

Thanks for your reply, prairie dog, but I think that the problem is resolved. Upon Googling the Google search query, it appears that Google, in their wisdom, have made their Google Instant turned on by default, so the drop-down menu is a permanent feature. This just coincided with my experience yesterday. My PC is running as normal with no signs of malware, but if anything unusual appears I will post to the forum you have advised.
