Error Code 2

Recommended Posts

Hi, when I start my PC I get a pop up window as MB starts "[OpenEvent] failed to perform desired action. Error Code 2". This code is not listed under HELP /error codes. MB then seems not to start up at all. Also when i start it manually I see that the UPDATE button is not highlighted (but uner TOOLS i have ticked 'update automatically'). Not sure if this matters? I have paid version.

Anyone offer any advice on this please? Thanx

As far as I know this means that the system cannot find the specified file , thus MBAM seems corrupted.

Try reinstalling it :

# Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using Add/Remove programs in the control panel.

# Restart your computer (very important).

# Download and run this utility: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe

# It will ask to restart your computer (please allow it to).

# After the computer restarts, Temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware downloaded from

http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti...4-10804572.html

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent

# Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

# Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray (you may need to wait some if you are running Windows Vista or 7) .
