Hi, whitestone:

Yes, you've come to the right place.

If you could provide a few specifics about your system, that would help us to provide the specific steps for your OS and version of McAfee.

So, please tell us:

* What OS version and Service Pack & whether 32-bit or 64-bit?

* Installed Security Product(s) including Antivirus, Firewall and their program versions? (I assume it's McAfee, as you said, but the versions would help us to help you.)

* MBAM version (current 1.50.1.1100) (FREE or PRO)?

If you didn't do so, it is best to pause McAfee protection when installing MBAM. If it's working OK, though even if you skipped that step, then we will move on.

First: Set up an program permissions and file exclusions in your AV and firewall, as explained here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138 (Specific instructions depend on the AV software vendor and your computer's OS).

Please exclude the following files from your Antivirus:

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude them from it as well

For Windows XP:

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll

* C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

* C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys

* C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For Windows Vista or Windows 7:

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll

* C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll

* C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

* C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys

* C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7:

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll

* C:\Program Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

* C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys

* C:\Windows\SysWoW64\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:

data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE from it, as well.

The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products, here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=10138

I haven't used McAfee in a while, and the exact steps will depend on what VERSION of McAfee products you are using. The FAQ article should get you started.

Second: Add the program folder(s) for you AV and FW to MBAM's "Ignore List" (see screen shot).

Hopefully, an MBAM McAfee user will come along with the specific steps for you.

Please post back if you need more help! (This seems a lot harder than it really is, if you can find your way around in the McAfee user interface.)

Best regards, and please be sure to use the "ADD REPLY" button when posting, so that the thread will be easier for everyone to read. :lol:
