Malwarebyte and Windows Service issue

Recommended Posts

hello everyone

i have been using malwarebyte for some quite time

it been working so great no issue

but i got attention when checking windows7 system logs

i got 3 errors :

cpuz133 service failed to start

MBAMProtector and MBAMServices failed to start

i can disable MBAM Services and might fix the issue (haven't test it)

but what i want to know is cpuz133 services... is that also came from mbam ?

as i can't see services regarding that one

how to fix cpuz133 for showing failed to start errors in windows system logs ?

FYI i am using windows 7 64-bit ultimate

thanks in advance

Are you still having any issues with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware running at startup or was that a one-time issue?

Please let me know if you're still having problems.

Thanks :)

hello

yes the issue that malwarebyes running at startup, i don't know why

i tried uninstall and reinstall after boot, but still producing same issue

seems disabling from services.msc is the only way ?

and *sorry for abit OOT* i want to know, which one your recommendation

using both Antivirus with malwarebytes active (protection enabled)

or just using single antivirus ?

i have been reading about how to use it both

but how much the impact to the performance ?

of course i want max security for my pc, but i am also advanced pc user, so i know how to use pc safetly

but if no impact to the performance then no wrong to have both actived

also i am wondering something, i know malwarebytes is different from antivirus, but isn't that close?

thus i am wonder, if because that malwarebytes not on antivirus-comperative ?

thank you

Please do the following:

  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from here
  • It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so very important
  • After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here
    • Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Pro version
    • Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.
Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now setup any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications. You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask and we'll explain how to do it.

That should fix the errors on startup. If it does not, let me know.

As for Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and an antivirus, it is designed to work alongside your antivirus, not replace it. That's because we focus on threats that antivirus software either fails to detect, fails to remove, or both, but we generally place a much lower priority on detecting and removing items that most antivirus softwares have covered.

I've had good experience personally with several antivirus softwares and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware with regards to performance and protection. The following are my personal recommendations for antivirus protection along with links to downloads for them (free trials for those that require a purchase so you can try them before deciding):

Also note that if using the paid version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware with your antivirus in realtime that it is generally a good idea to exclude Malwarebytes' files from your antivirus to avoid conflicts. The FAQ contains examples of setting file exclusions for some known AV products.
