Custom Search 1.0.1 homepage hijacker - google.apsolo.com

I innocently downloaded SMRecorder from downloads.cnet.com. It came packaged with a plugin, "Custom Search 1.0.1," that I could not for the life of me delete. After great emails from Snr. Asc. Editor Jason Parker, he (and his team) got me the solution

"1) delete folder C:\Program Files\SMRecorder\scripts,"

(or uninstall the program first. I used Revo [per Jason], set to "advanced install" [fourth option], and selected and deleted all components]).

"2) navigate to %UserProfile%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and delete user.js file from [your profile ID.default] folder."

(or, on my computer, a slight variation--the path was C:\Users\Chris\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[profileID].default -- where [profileID] is a string of letters and numbers).

(I should note that this plugin changes your homepage to google.apsolo.com, and when you change to anything else, the next time you start Firefox, it's back to google.apsolo.com)
