No sound from internet video

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I very much appreciate your TIME and technical expertise in helping me! However, please don't spend an 'unreasonable' amount of time on this. Below is my original post followed by the DDS.txt file:

Again, THANK YOU!!!!

HI all,

Wondering if I could get a little help restoring the sound to my computer when I use internet browsers (IE Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome). For instance, I have no sound when I visit youtube or any other video posted on any website. However, when I play an mp3 file, the sound is working fine, so it's not a driver problem. I've worked on solving this problem for 3 days. All of the computer settings (control panel, etc-and settings in the browsers) are fine. I've run malwarebytes, McAfee Antivirus, and some other programs that I have no idea what they were for e.g. K-Lite codec Pack (full), and some registry repair software downloaded from CNET (CCleaner +Advanced Registry Optimizer). I've also tried to use 'system restore'. To some degree, that has been unsuccessful in that it would not set reset the date, even using reset in safe-mode. However, it did work for a date about a month ago, but no luck. I've unistalled Adobe Flash Player and reinstalled it. Same with Quicktime.

Any suggestions?

THANKS!

Sipritch25,

THANK YOU for the time and energy you spent investigating my files. I uninstalled K-Lite Codec Pack Full, rebooted-did not help. So, I reinstalled it, rebooted, still not working. To be sure that this was not only occurring with Youtube in Google Chrome, I tried a video on the Yahoo site using Internet Explorer-same results; no sound.

Again, thank you for you time and suggestions!

Sipritch 25,

Thanks for stopping back to check! "Did the register cleaners fix anything'...yes, they gave messages that the 'fixed' many 'errors'. In fact, I ran AMC Registry Cleaner 4.21 and CCleaner before this response. Ran the AMC Registry Cleaner like 3 times. Restarted the computer--still no sound on any internet video. Also, I've run Malwarebytes full scan and McAfee full scans and am not coming up with any infections etc (although I did detect and elimante trojans and some other files that these programs found when I ran them last week - before I submitted any logs).

My question is- if I want the sound back, do you think I'm gonna have to start from square one and reinstall my Windows Operating System and all of my programs??? I think I would invested less time if I had done this from the beginning.

THANKS for your advice. It is appreciated!!!

I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I just downloaded the latest version of Flash, and a couple of days ago I downloaded and installed the Windows 7 updates. I suspect that one of these software updates is the issue.

This occurs with sound for a video or playing an .mp3 file. I had access to download (via ftp) one of the .mp3 files, and it played just fine in iTunes, just as described above, with being able to play audio on the 'puter, but it not working from any of the browsers.
