virus, malware unable to delete

Recommended Posts

Hi, Thanks in advance.

I'm running xp pro. I have both (infected and uninfected desktop) side by side to work with.

Last friday 12/25, I was ask by my bro to connect the pc to wireless printer. As I open IE to download printer driver, i noticed it is infected right away due to anti-virus pro 2010 was running and scanning and giving multiple links. I couldn't get on any anti-virus software homepage. I was able to use a flash drive from another pc but i can only scan with version 5436 (unable to update to 5406). I have tried to look for rules.ref from updated version but couldn't find anywhere.

Anyway i was able to scan and found about 2000 virus/malware with un-updated version. Probably infected quite awhile. So far i scanned and deleted with malwarebyes, panda online scanner, and dsskiller. I was able to get on anti-virus homepage prior to clean with dsskiller. Currently i can get on any homepage besides anti-virus but still give me multiple pop ups. I have doing research and tried for 3 days, my last attemp would be format. Sorry for long post and thanks in advance. Yes i can stay up 24/7 trying to fix this.

Hello stupid_virus! Welcome to Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forums!

My name is Borislav and I will be glad to help you solve your problems with malware. Before we begin, please note the following:

  • The process of cleaning your system may take some time, so please be patient.
  • Follow my instructions step by step if there is a problem somewhere, stop and tell me.
  • Stay with the thread until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
  • Instructions that I give are for your system only!
  • If you don't know or can't understand something please ask.
  • Do not install or uninstall any software or hardware, while work on.
  • Keep me informed about any changes.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.

Double click dds.scr to run the tool.

  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt

[*]Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
