Help with MBAM

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am a newbie, so I hope I am doing this right! I did post yesterday, but I can't find it!

I installed Malwarebytes 1.50 a few days ago, but couldn't update as the update button was disabled, I went onto the forum for help and noticed that Malwarebytes 1.50.1 had been released and should fix this problem. I uninstalled the 1.50 version using Windows uninstall programme. I then downloaded 1.50.1 version, but I still have the update button greyed out. Please help. Thank you

Greetings and welcome

I'm guessing that you're logged into a Standard or Limited user account. In order to update the program you either need to be logged in as an administrator or if using Windows Vista or Windows 7, right-click on the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware shortcut before running it and select Run as administrator. You should then be able to use the Check for Updates button in the Update tab.

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your reply. Firstly, allow me to apologise for my lateness in acknowledging your reply, as I have been away for the Christmas period.

I did right click on the shortcut, as you instructed, but the instruction 'run as administator' wasn't available. On reflection, would the fact that I can log in as administrtor or standard user, obviate this facility. I changed user and logged in as administator and was able to update. Should I have downloaded the programme, when logged in as administrator, rather than standard user, to eliminate this problem?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, AVG Antivirus, Superantispyware, Windows Firewall and Malwarebytes 1.50.1 ( ott perhaps?)

Thank you for your kindness and welcome message.

My best wishes to you,

Yours faithfully,

Peter Bowers.
