MBAM won't run

A friend is having trouble with her computer. It won't connect to the internet via dialup.

I installed MBAM, but it would not open. I changed the name of MBAM to default and now it will open.

What does this mean? Is some malware blocking MBAM?

I ran MBAM and discovered a rootkit and two different Trojans. Now I will see how it runs.

After removing the Rootkit and Trojans, I uninstalled MBAM and ran the clean utility, then I reinstalled MBAM. I still have the problem that it won't run unless I change the name.

Does this mean that I likely still have malware that is blocking MBAM?
