Whitesmoke removal problem

Attach.zipI have been fighting the Whitesmoke nonsense for the last couple of days on the kid's computer. It's a pretty clean computer running XP with AVG. After the first infection, running IE or FF was impossible for all of the lag, redirects and hard re-boots.

  1. I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and it took out almost all of the garbage. Windows ran fine, IE and FF ran fine at normal speed...and then the isolated redirect. And then again. And finally Whitesmoke re-created itself.
  2. I removed Whitesmoke via Add/Remove Programs
  3. I ran Anti-Malware again and removed all checked items
  4. I ran DeFogger and successfully disabled the CD Emulation drivers
  5. I ran DDS with the text log copied below
  6. I ran GMER Rootkit Scanner
  7. I am attaching an archive file of the DDS Attach.txt and the GMER ark.txt included

I would appreciate any help to wipe Whitesmoke clean.

How are things now?

Things look good. I did rerun Defogger to re-enable emulators. Then for some reason my browsers had reset and checked Use a proxy server (blank line) in LAN settings. I unchecked that and connected to the internet. Everything is running well and appears to be back to normal.

Thank you!
