tip: what to do when you cant run malwarebytes

Recommended Posts

Often times the malware prevents any programs from launching including the cmd prompt or msconfig. I found a very high success rate getting msconfig to launch by running a batch file in the startup folder to launch it. The script launches before the malware can be run to close msconfig thus allowing you to remove much of the malware that is starting with windows. After this you can run malwarebytes to finish the job.

Create a batch file in notepad with this as the code: C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig and copy it to the startup folder of the infected computer (via network/thumbdrive)

Simple but works most of the time. It has saved me countless hours of fighting going into safe mode etc.
