We use the pro version of MB and really like the product but I've noticed that non-admins can't update the software, nor does MB run the scheduled updates when a non-admin is logged in.

My users do not have admin rights to the machines so I'm wondering if there is a way to have MB run with system rights or some other trick to get the software to update as scheduled when only non-admins are using the machines.

I've noticed this with 1.45, 1.46 and (it seems but testing is limited thus far) 1.50.

Thanks

Eric

By design only the systems Administrator(s) are able to add/remove a schedule and perform updates. From the Administrator's account you can schedule updates. These updates will be executed when non-administrator users are logged in.

As a licensed corporate user you have access to the corporate helpdesk, contact them via the email address below.

OK, thanks for the quick reply. Are you suggesting that there is a work-around if I call the corp. support?

It seems odd that non-admins can't update by design, it may be months and months between admin logins on our client machines and then it usually is for something that we need to fix and don't want to be distracted by remembering to run the MB update. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks.

Thanks Grant. I do use that update scheduling feature when I set up the program but my issue is after that schedule is set.

Unless an Admin is logged in MB does not update. My users do not have admin privileges on our client machines and therefore their machines do not update, regardless how I set the Schedule feature.

I would like to set the schedule and then have MB update automatically, regardless of who is logged in. Currently the Admin sets the schedule but i doesn't do any good b/c non-admins are logged in and MB just sits there. If I could get MB to update, no matter what rights the current user has, I'd be all set.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello Yarl,

Any user on the system (admin or non-admin), if you have the scheduler set up (eg. an hourly update), the system will check for the latest update. If the system is up-to-date then nothing will be updated. When the system checks again (again if set to hourly) then the next hour the system checks if is not up-to-date. If it is not the system will automatically download the latest update.

Now for a new version of MBAM (eg. the update from 1.46 to 1.50) the system administrator will need to log in and install this type of update.

Please attach (.txt) with the last 3 Protection logs from your system.

*HOW TO ATTACH PROTECTION LOG*

- Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and go to Logs tab

- Look for protection-log-yyyy-mm-dd.txt (The last 3 days)

- Double click it and click File and then Save As.... save it on your desktop.

- Attach the protection log on your desktop

Thank you!
