Hi forum,

I just discovered that like a total dumbo I downloaded what turned out to be a fake app called ErrorWiz 2 weeks ago. I only worked this out when I started getting random IE advertising popups today. I downloaded Malwarebyte and it picked up and deleted ErrorWiz as a rogue app straight away. I have since re-scanned multiple times, all clear.

My questions are two fold:

1) can i really trust that 1 quick removal from Malwarebytes has killed ErrorWiz going forward and

2) i have read that ErrorWiz may lead to theft of personal details - it was in my computer for 2 weeks and I defo used credit cards etc online during this time - how can I tell if my details has been compromised? I have kept the offending files in Malwarebytes quarantine can an administrator tell what potential damage has been caused from looking at them?

Thanks!

We do not deal with infections in the general MBAM forum.

Malwarebytes is an expert software that generally removes all malware it detects.

If you are certain that you are still infected with ErrorWiz, follow the instructions here.

We do not deal with infections here.

An expert will answer your other questions if needed; I do not feel authorized to give any more help.

Hi Chinatowner and Welcome -

The Malware removal area will fully check your system if you like (free) - There can always be traces of a rogue left behind -

They will ask for logs and other items that can show the type of infection , and if there is any left -

As we do not work on Malware removal or diagnostics in the general forums please follow these directions -

Please print out, read and follow ->What do I do now? , skipping any steps you are unable to complete.

The next step is post a ->New Topic Here.

One of the Expert helpers there will give you one-on-one assistance when one becomes available.

After posting your new post make sure under Options that you select Track this topic and choose one of the Email options so that

you're alerted when someone has replied to your post - Please allow at least 24-48 hours for a reply as the experts can get busy at times -

Also add a brief note to the experts as to your problems -

Alternatively, as a paying customer, you can contact the help desk at support@malwarebytes.org or via This Link

Always use the ADD REPLY Tab at the bottom of the page when you reply -

Thank You - :D
