Cannot remove Trojen.Fakealert from computer

Recommended Posts

I am using Malwarebytes and recently on every startup it is catching: sft_ver1.1454.0.exe (Trojan.FakeAlert), and deleting it.

However after restarting it keeps coming back as a problem.

Any ideas on how to get rid of it completely and stop it coming back on restarting every time.

Attached are the 3 files you have requeted:

log from malewarebytes scan

log from pandascan

log from hijack this

Thanks, Neil

I've looked at all 3 logs and none of them show that file [sft_ver1.1454.0.exe]

The MB log you posted shows nothing found.

The Panda log shows some items that need review. However they also indicate that you're using software illegally.

C:\Program Files\dvd43\dvd43_tray.exe is used for bypassing CSS DVD encryption

C:\Users\Neil\Documents\Keygen.exe is used to bypass software registration

Please discontinue using these programs.

What is this program file / folder for? C:\ProgramData\hebupali\tgtonypq.exe it does not show anything on Google. Right click on the file and check the PROPERTIES and see if it tells you anything about it. IF not and you don't know what it is let me know.

Please upload this file C:\Windows\System32\wr34259.dll so that we can review it. uploads.malwarebytes.org

I've run the following software:

Spybot

Ad-aware

Malwarebytes

Superantispyware

Norton

Panda online scanner

They have found and deleted malware, and it seems that 'sft_ver1.1454.0.exe' is not appearing anymore. This file was only detected by malwarebytes.

Also doesn't seem like there any infection/virus//malware left as everything seems to be running normally now. No more alerts are coming up.

I have removed DVD43, however the keygen.exe file I cannot see in that folder anymore. i think this has all started with trying to download and run some illegal software. Don't think i'll ever be doing that again!

I have no idea as to what 'C:\ProgramData\hebupali\tgtonypq.exe' is. The properties doesn't tell me anymore.

I have uploaded 'C:\Windows\System32\wr34259.dll'

Thanks

Neil

Okay I would try renaming that folder C:\ProgramData\hebupali to maybe SUSPECT-hebupali and also rename the file tgtonypq.exe to tgtonypq.ex_ and leave it that way for a few days.

Reboot and make sure all your other applications and hardware function as they should. Then after a few days if you want you can remove the folder and files if no problems found.

You can also upload this file C:\ProgramData\hebupali\tgtonypq.exe to Jotti's Malware Scanner using IE and then post back the results here.

Check back tomorrow and we'll see if anything was found on that DLL file you uploaded.

Please run this

Download
CCleaner
from
here
to clean temp files from your computer.

  • Double click on the ccsetup.exe file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click
    OK
    , then
    next
    .

  • Read the license agreement and click
    I Agree
    .

  • Click
    next
to use the default install location.

  • Under Install Options, choose all the default settings except
I would recommend that you unclick/untick install the Yahoo! Toolbar, unless you want it. You can also Uncheck the 'Automatically check for updates' box.

  • Click
    Install
    then
    finish
    to complete installation.

  • Double click the
    CCleaner
shortcut on the desktop to start the program.

  • On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).

  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.

  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."

    deselect
"Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."

  • Caution:
It is not recommended that you use the "Registry" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
Click on Registry and make sure Registry Integrity is UNchecked!

  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click
    Run Cleaner
    to run the program.

  • After
    CCleaner
    has completed its process, click
    Exit.

Then do another MB scan AFTER updating it, and PANDA scan. Fix anything they find and reboot.

After the reboot run another HJT and post back all of the logs please.

Morning,

Thought all was well with my computer last night. This morning after working for about 10mins, Norton flagged up 'Trojan.Vundo' and deleted it.

On its details it stated 122 Registry enteries, 13 files, 10 processes, and 1 domain were affected -but fully resolved.

Yes we know you still have some type of infection. Still waiting on the Dev guys to update.

You also have OLD Java pieces. Please go and uninstall ALL versions of Java and delete the C:\Program Files\Java folder and reboot the computer.

We can install the latest version of Java later on.

Please be patient while I wait to hear back from the Dev group.

Hi guys.

Apologies for not getting to this sooner.

I have examined the dll you sent us. It's a Trojan.BHO variant. I have added it to the defs. We should be able to detect this particular variant with an update to be released later this evening.

Morning,

I have uninstalled Java, and Java folder in program files is not there anymore.

I have run MB and updated it. I ran a quick scan, and nothing was found.

I rebooted my computer.

I have then ran another MB scan and HJT.

The logs are below:

Heya, looks like i did my earlier scan too early. There has since been another update for MA. This has been applied, and the scan picked up and deleted 'wr34259.dll'. After rebooting, repeat MA scan showed no infections.

I have included these logs, and HJT below.

What to do now?

Do you think i'm free from infection now?

MA, Spybot, Norton - all seem to be finding no infections now!

Thanks.

Good. Please reboot the computer one more time and then please go do an online Panda scan for verification of no more issues found.

PandaActive Scan

This needs to be run using IE and you also need to shut down or disable any other AntiVirus scanners that will interfere with the Panda scan.

Thanks.

That's
GOOD NEWS

At this time your system appears to be clean. Nothing else in the logs indicates that you are still infected.

Now that you are clean, please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:

Disable and Enable System Restore-VISTA

This is a good time to clear your existing system restore points and establish a new clean restore point:

Turn off System Restore-Vista

  • Click the
    Vista/Start
    icon.
  • Right Click >> Computer

  • Click
    Properties
    .

  • Click the
    System Protection tab
    .

  • Uncheck
    All drives

  • Click "Turn Off System Restore" at the prompt then click "Apply".

  • Restart your computer.

Turn ON System Restore-Vista

  • Click the
    Vista/Start
    icon
  • Right Click >> Computer

  • Click
    Properties
    .

  • Click the
    System Protection tab
    .

  • Checkmark All drives
that were selected previously then click "Apply".

This will remove all restore points except the new one you just created.

Here are some free programs I recommend that could help you improve your computer's security.

(Vista users, you must ensure that any program versions downloaded are Vista compatible
BEFORE
installing)

Spybot Search and Destroy

Download it from
here
. Just choose a mirror and off you go.

Find here the tutorial on how to use Spybot properly
here

Install SpyWare Blaster

Download it from
here

Find here the tutorial on how to use Spyware Blaster
here

Install WinPatrol

Download it from
here

Here you can find information about how WinPatrol works
here

Install FireTrust SiteHound

You can find information and download it from
here

Install hpHosts

Download it from
here

hpHosts is a community managed and maintained hosts file that allows an additional layer of protection against access to ad,

tracking and malicious websites. This prevents your computer from connecting to these untrusted sites

by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your own local computer.

Update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.

You can use one of these sites to check if any updates are needed for your pc.

Enable automatic Windows Update on your system in Control Panel, or at least manually scan each week for updates.

The windows firewall is not sufficient to protect your system. It doesn't monitor outgoing traffic well and this is a must. I recommend
Comodo Firewall Pro
