ThinkPoint Infection - MBAM Won't Launch

Recommended Posts

I've recently been infected with the ThinkPoint malware, and am unable to do anything to stop it.

There are several problems which are preventing me from removing it

1) Am unable to get the Start menu and taskbar, ergo disabling me from starting my antivirus software

2) MBAM isn't launching. I've installed it, and tried launching from installer, but that won't work. I also went to it's program files directory, and tried the 2 exes in that, and that won't work either

3) In partnership with #1, explorer won't launch. When I go to Task Manager and go to New Task, and type in explorer.exe or just explorer, a Windows Explorer windows comes up; not the start menu and task bar

If anyone can help me, please, I'd really appreciate it.

Please don't attach the scan results, use Copy/Paste

Download the tools needed to a flash drive or other USB device, and transfer them to the infected computer.

If the tool won't run from the desktop, try running it from the USB device.

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Vista and Windows 7 users:

1. These tools MUST be run from the executable. (.exe) every time you run them

2. With Admin Rights (Right click, choose "Run as Administrator")
