Malwarebytes won't update on Windows 7 64 its

Recommended Posts

Hello there!...

Malwarebytes has been an great help to keep my system clean, it's a great app and oh it's free, so I thanks to the team, you really do a tremendous job.

I've moved recently from 32 bits operational system to 64 bits, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits to be specific, and now I can't update the malware signatures database...it updates when I install it but after it I can't do it anymore. It hsappens on 2 PCs I have (same OS, 64 bits).

Is there maybe an known issue with it running on Win7 64 bits or would it be something I'm doing wrong?

Thanks in advance guys, []s from Brasil

Hello and :)

There are no issues with updates on Win7 64Bit.

Please provide following details, so that someone may be able to assist you:

  • 1. OS version including 32/64-bit
    2. Installed Security Product(s) including Firewall
    3. MBAM version (current 1.46) (Free or Pro Version)
    4. Definition version (current 5127)
    5. Do you use a router to connect to Internet
    6. Do you get any error codes when you update

I use it on 2 PCs, at home and at work, and on both them I'm having the same problem...

In my work, I have:

- OS version is Windows 7 Ultimate x64, I don't know the build, but it's not a beta I'm sure;

- Security products is AVG Antivirus 2011 and the built-in Windows Firewall;

- MBAM version is 1.46, free version;

- definition version is 5129 (I reinstalled it 5 minutes ago, updated and did a scan);

- I use a router, it's the D-Link DI-524;

- I don't get any error codes when updating, in fact, after the first update (on the installation of the program), everything goes normal, but If I close it, the next time I open it the update button turns white and the characters become very weak, but still visible.

In my home, I have:

- OS version is Windows 7 Ultimate x64, I don't know the build too, but not a beta;

- Security products is Microsoft Security Essentials and the built-in Windows Firewall;

- MBAM version is 1.46, free version;

- definition version, I think it's 5126, I'm not there so I don't know for sure right know, but it's the version downloaded at the instalation process;

- the router there is the D-Link DI-624;

- no error codes too, just the same behavior: in the second time that I run the program, the update button turn white, the same that happens at my home PC.

Hi -

For your home computer please follow these instructions and visit -->This Link to fix the MSE problem -

To Fully Remove and Reinstall a Fresh New Copy of Malwarebytes - Read Carefully

Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  • Click on the Start button and select Control Panel
  • Click on Programs and Features
  • Uninstall Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Restart your computer very important !
  • Download and run mbam-clean.exe from ->Here

It will ask to restart your computer, please allow it to do so, very important

After the computer restarts, temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and install the latest version of Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from ->Here

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Paid version only

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now reset any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Thank You - :D

EDIT -

There may be a problem with AVG Antivirus 2011 on your work unit with Malwarebytes -
