MBAM unable to remove trojan.extension.exploit

Hi, my second/backup laptop just got infected. Goodness, This is sad.

My laptop was taking a long time to shutdown and startup and kept losing its internet connection.

I scanned w/ Norton AV and found nothing. I scanned w/ MBAM and found that one of my files were infected by trojan.extension.exploit. MBAM found and deleted it. On shutdown and restart had the same problem--ie computer was very slow. At restart rescanned w/ MBAM and found same infection. Again MBAM says infection is delted. Again on shutdown and startup same problem. And again a scan by MBAM reveals the infection. (I;ve tried this 10xs)

Not sure what to do. Here's the HJT log followed by the MBAM log. I didnt run Panda Scan as I have Norton Anti virus and I was worried about having two anti virus programs at the same time. Norton doesn't detect anything--I ran 2 full scans. If you need me to run pandascan let me know and i'll do it.

Thanks for the help!

I think I was able to remove the file that MBAM was unable to remove. It was an Arabic file--this is probably why it showed up as a bunch of question marks in MBAM. I reran MBAM and found no trace of maleware. My computer is still slow at startup and shutdown. However, this may be b/c of Lenovo's software. The whole thing started when I would lose connectivity on my wireless connection and could not reconnect or shut down. A number of people have had this problem with lenovos. I'm trying to figure out what to do--it may involve uninstalling some of Lenovo's software.

MBAM removed the file. It shows in the first log you posted.

C:\Documents and Settings\Sayeed\Desktop\???? ??????????? ?????? ??? ???????? ????? ???????.doc (Trojan.Extension.Exploit) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully. You've got Symantec installed that alone will slow a machine to a crawl. Your HJT log shows two Chrome running too. That seems strange.

Run HJT again in scan only mode and place a check next to the following lines, then click fix.

Reboot and post a new HJT log.

You are running an outdated and unsafe version of Java. You need to uninstall it via Add/Remove programs and delete the program file also. Then go here Java Update and install the correct version for your system. Choose the offline installation.

Your running an outdated and unsafe version of Adobe Acrobat Reader latest version. Or get the alternative faster lighter on resources Foxit PDF Reader and Editor Look at the Downloads tab here or Downloads if you don't want to see the features etc.

My problem was that MBAM wasn't removing the file initially. I.e., it would remove it, and then I would restart and scan my computer and it would find it again. This happened about 10 times, until I manually deleted the file I thought it was. After that, MBAM no longer said I was infected.

I think chrome runs every tab as a separate process. Youre right--Norton AV slows everything down.

I'll update the Java and acrobat.
