Browser hijack, Win32 Generic Host Process error, wireless problems

Hi. I'm having troubles very similar to the person who posted this thread: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/lofiversion...php?t65233.html

Some browser hijacking (particularly when attempting to click on Google search results), a Win32 Generic Host error after a few minutes of browsing the Internet (Mozilla Firefox, latest version), and shortly after that error, my wireless Internet will generally stop working. Also, when restarting to fix the wireless issue, the computer generally won't boot until the third attempt. I am really hoping to avoid reformatting, because this is a netbook and didn't come with a way to re-install Windows XP, to my knowledge.

I followed the instructions in the "I'm infected" thread, and cut/pasted the DDS log below, and also attached the other two files as a zip. Any help or guidance that anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Malwarebytes.

  • Download the file TDSSKiller.zip and extract it into a folder on the infected PC.
  • Execute the file TDSSKiller.exe by double-clicking on it.
  • Wait for the scan and disinfection process to be over.
  • When its work is over, the utility prompts for a reboot to complete the disinfection.

By default, the utility outputs runtime log into the system disk root directory (the disk where the operating system is installed, C:\ as a rule).

The log is like UtilityName.Version_Date_Time_log.txt.

for example, C:\TDSSKiller.2.2.0_20.12.2009_15.31.43_log.txt.

Please post that log here.

screen317, thanks for your help. I ran that program, although my computer didn't reboot cleanly after it finished (it froze for 30 minutes logging out, at which point I turned it off). But it did generate the log, so here is that log:
