Unable to Update MBAM

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm a new user at the forum. I have used MBAM in the past to get rid of a hijack virus. This time I'm attempting to get rid of "Microsoft Security Essentials Alert". I used the same website that I used in the past (myantispyware.com); however, the difference was that this time I got an error when I tried to update MBAM: MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING (12150, 0, WinHttpQueryHeaders). When it gave me the error, I clicked OK and continued with the scan of my computer anyway. It found a total of 14 malware and trojans, I got rid of them, restarted, but the Microsoft Security Essentials hijacker window appeared again.

Could the reason it came back be that I wasn't able to update MBAM? I just downladed MBAM from the link that myantispyware.com provided, so I figure it should have been the latest edition...

I am able to connect to the internet at the moment, am using a cable modem and am on the directly connected PC (not through router), I'm using XP, and I have Norton Anti-Virus.

Any help is appreciated.

Oscar

Note: If using a software firewall besides the built in Windows Firewall you'll need to exclude MBAM.EXE from it as well

Note: Once that's done, please make sure that if either of those programs has any sort of web filter, that you add the following as a trusted site:
