Security Essentials

Recommended Posts

I have an infection/virus on my computer that won't let me do anything. I can't get online or open hardly anything on my computer. Interestingly enough I did succesfully run AVG and it said no infections found.

I had a attack on my work computer once and Malwarebytes helped me fix the problem. I come back to you for help!

A popup on my computer from "Security Essentials" says I have an infection called Win32Trojan. I obviously can't get online and download Malwarebytes as this infection is not allowing me to open a browser or get online. Can you please help me fix this? Please give me step by step instructions as I am far from a computer guy. I am not stupid on the topic I would say I am average in terms of computer knowledge for a 33 year old

Please, please help me!

Hello pete_95973

Welcome to Malwarebytes.

=====================

Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools> Internet options> Connections > Lan settings.

Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN then click ok to save the changes.

Then you should be able to get online.

After that please try to run the following:

  • Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Double click on OTL to run it.
  • When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
  • Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.

====================

Please download Rootkit Unhooker and save it to your desktop.

  • Double-click RKUnhookerLE.exe to run it.
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan
  • Check Drivers, Stealth Code, Files, and Code Hooks
  • Uncheck the rest, then click OK
  • When prompted to Select Disks for Scan, make sure C:\ is checked and click OK
  • Wait till the scanner has finished then go File > Save Report
  • Save the report somewhere you can find it, typically your desktop. Click Close
  • Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in your next reply.

Note - You may get this warning it is ok, just ignore it."Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!

It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

the "use a proxy server" box was already unchecked. I can't get on the

Internet or open a web browser. This is very frustrating!

If you help me get this fixed I will make a donation.

I have a computer at work, and a netbook at home (which I cant get online with because my wireless is down and I cant get it back online with out my desktop). How can I get the logs? How can I transfer them?

I will help you with or without a donation.

Try to get me those logs so I can see what is going on with the system.

Do you have another computer that you could transfer the programs over to the computer?
