Win32/Ramnit virus

Recommended Posts

I use ESET NOD32 and it has till now done a good job pf protecting me. I ended up with a pesky virus / malware that ESET has not been able to deal with.

On the advice of my tech I downloaded and installed the latest version of Malwarebytes and while it found 13 problems, I still seem to have the problem. ESET NOD32 has been constantly detecting Win32/Ramnit viruses, cleaning and quarantining files. Several thousand so far have been sent to the vault.

I re-scanned with MB twice and nothing was found... Even after unplugged my network cable and re-booting my hard drive is still chattering away and ESET continues to detect the viruses.

As well, my floppy seems to be getting scanned every 10 seconds. That too is annoying. Perhaps that is my ESET but darned if I can find a setting to disable scanning of floppies.

I have average computer skills and did some basic searches regarding the Ramnit virus but every solution seems linked to someone wanting to sell software.

Other searches suggested Ctr-Alt-Delete and looking for instances of the Win32/Ramnit running... I see none.

My tech is so busy he cannot work on my PC for a few days and I would really like to try and eradicate this problem.

HELP!

Wayne
