Hi. One of those people who registered just for help. :)

BASICALLY, something snuck on my computer last night. The browser can access the internet - both IE and Firefox (the latter of which was uninstalled/reinstalled) - but not any other programs such as messaging. My antispyware, when I can open it, cannot update due to 'firewall issues'. Malwarebytes in particular has "MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING (12007, 0, WinHttpSendRequest)" popping up when I try to update.

Could someone please assist me with working around such and getting this darn thing working fully again? I also possess HijackThis if any of its logs will help.

Thanks!

Hi,

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.

  • Disable any script blocking protection.
  • Double click dds.com to run the tool..
  • When done, DDS will open two logs (DDS.txt and Attach.txt).
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please include the contents of DDS.txt in your next reply.

Please download Rootkit Unhooker and save it to your Desktop

  • Double-click on RKUnhookerLE to run it
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan
  • Check Drivers, Stealth and uncheck the rest
  • Click OK
  • Wait until it's finished and then go to File > Save Report
  • Save the report to your Desktop

Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note - you may get this warning it is ok, just ignore: "Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!

It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

Please download and run the traceroute utility at this link. It will run a traceroute to our update servers to see if it can find the connection issue, and then it will write it to a log, and open that log in Notepad when it is done. Please either save the log as a Text File and then attach it to a reply, or copy and paste it into a reply, and I will forward it on to our server guy.

Note that it may take several minutes to run, and it may look like it is not doing anything for a few minutes. Normally it takes longer when there are errors that it has to log, but it's rare for it to go more than 10 minutes.
