Microsoft Update

Each time I start my computer,the Automatic Update Install Wizard shows the little yellow shield icon and prompts: "updates are ready for your computer"

I have then downloaded the update : KB2416742 Microsoft.NET Framework 4 on Windows XP several times now, I have re-booted after each attempt

and tried the 'Custom Install' option with the same result; the update doesn't seem to install and the shield icon reappears.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thankyou for your help, I have now successfully downloaded the .NET framework 4 and installed the required update.
