malware return

Recommended Posts

I have a Windows XP Pro machine that recently was infected. Some of the symptoms are that it hides the task manager and will not let me into regedit. I purchased Malwarebytes and installed it with no problems. Everytime I run a scan (quick, full, or flash) it finds the same files. It deletes and quantines (remove selected) the files and asks me to restart. When the machine is back up, I notice the same symptoms. I rerun the scan and get the same results. This is like the Bill Murray movie "Groundhog Day" where everything keeps looping back to the same point in time. Since I am new to this product, there is a possibility that I am doing something wrong. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance.

Hello trenchdog,

You have a recurring set of infectors because the boogers have multiple infection vectors.

It will take a series of measures to knock out. And it will take the running of multiple tools.

We won't be able to diagnose in detail here, in the General MBAM sub-forum.

Please print out, read and follow the directions here, skipping any steps you are unable to complete. Then post a NEW topic here.
