Confirmed Malware - Computer Blacks Out/Glitches During Scan

Hello all,

I'm so frustrated and desperate right now. 2 days ago I used Google to search for a program to see if my computer could run a video game. I clicked on the first link thinking it was a trusted website. I clicked Accept to the Java popup and ever since have been having issues.

Regular Windows Vista glitches after 30 - 120 seconds, then shortly the screen turns black after that.

Windows Safe Mode with Networking does the same thing.

Windows Safe Mode runs fine until I start MalwareBytes, and MalwareBytes runs for maybe 20 seconds/10,000 files or so then glitches also.

MalwareBytes is still obviously running, but since the screen is so distorted I can't actually do anything. I got it far enough on my first scan to see over 11,000 infected files, and started to delete them (I think I saw one was a worm folder), I also saw words like Trojan and Rogue, etc. When the deleting process got to about 30% the glitching started again and then the screen blacked out. I had to force shutdown my computer my pulling the power. I read in other topics that the computer needs a reboot after a scan, which I'm not able to do because once the scan gets to a certain point, I can't see anything.

I have the most recent version of MalwareBytes that I downloaded form the laptop I'm typing this on, and installed on the infected computer through a CD.

I'm not able to post any logs since the screen on the infected computer is completely distorted during MalwareBytes scanning. When I say the words distorted or glitching I mean there's a lot of blank lines in the same pattern going all the way down the screen, also some random lines with rainbow colors and lots of black pixels flashing around the whole screen. I can't see any text or the cursor, but can see large shapes like the grey background of Malware Bytes and the black/red/white banner at the top of the program. The screen also flashes solid black every few seconds randomly (which is better than going completely black and not turning back on like previously).

I greatly appreciate any help, I'm sorry I can't get you more information or logs like you probably need.

Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

If you encounter trouble running normal mode, try to run the following in Safe Mode.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:

  • Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:

    [*]Save it to your desktop.

    [*]Double click on the otlDesktopIcon.png icon on your desktop.

    [*]Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.

    [*]Push the Quick Scan button.

    [*]Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:

    • OTListIt.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

Please download Rootkit Unhooker and save it to your Desktop

  • Double-click on RKUnhookerLE to run it
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan
  • Check Drivers, Stealth and uncheck the rest
  • Click OK
  • Wait until it's finished and then go to File > Save Report
  • Save the report to your Desktop

Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note - you may get this warning it is ok, just ignore: "Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!

It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"


In the meantime please, do NOT install any new programs or update anything unless told to do so while we are fixing your problem

If you still need help, please include the following in your next reply

  • A detailed description of your problems
  • A new OTL log (don't forget extra.txt)
  • RKU log
