I am computer tech and a MBAM reseller partner. I have sold over 500 MBAM sice April.

I have previously been installing AVG Free 9 and selling each customer MBAM

Now that AVG 2011 is out and crashing on 64 bit win7, I need a new solution.

I heard that Avast! is compatible with MBAM protection module.

Does it need MBAM process exceptions?

This is what I have been using:

------------------

Directory Excludes

------------------

For Windows XP:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 32 bit:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista and Windows 7:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes

------------------

File Excludes

------------------

* Click on Add List then copy and paste the text inside the CODE box exactly as written into the AVG window.

Select the entries appropriate to your version of Windows:

For Windows XP:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbamswissarmy.sys

For Windows Vista and Windows 7 32 bit:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamgui.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\zlib.dll

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.dll

C:\ProgramData\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\rules.ref

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mbam.sys

Thanks for any help. Can any avast! users comment on the above and if I will like avast better than AVG 9?

The last time I checked, avast! 5 does not need exclusions to be compatible with our protection module. However, adding exclusions is a good idea anyway, as it can help reduce the risk of compatibility issues later on down the line.

I use Avast! V5 on my systems but only the Free version on Windows 7 and the Pro version on XP Pro.

Avast! Internet Security has a firewall and needs the MBAM exclusion entries added.

Edit: It has a very good forum that is much better than AVG's forum and one of tha main reasons I left AVG.

You may want to consider this

What is the business case for being a reseller?

There are several well defined business reasons you may wish to resell avast! products as part of your business.

1. At no up-front cost, you can, subject to acceptance into our reseller program, add a multi-award winning antivirus solution to your product offerings;

2. Some customers will ask you for avast! - if you don't offer it, they may go elsewhere;

3. Our software will probably compliment your other services and offerings;

4. We offer good margins and, as you grow your sales of our products, so the benefits of being a reseller increase as well;

5. We make a very good product, which we are promoting world-wide, and your business can be part of that success.
