Hi -

Current update is around 4706 so you are far behind the latest update -

Please disable any add on firewall and try to update again -

Can you please reply with your current Antivirus program and any installed Firewall so we can help further -

Also can you check that the error number you quoted is fully correct -

Date:4/29/2010

Database version: 4052

Fingerprints loaded: 227746

This date shows the install is way behind current times -

Please select your operating system and try a Un/Re install with these instructions -

Note: You will need to reactivate the program using the license you were sent via email if using the Paid version only

Launch the program and set the Protection and Registration. Then go to the UPDATE tab if not done during installation and check for updates.

Restart the computer again and verify that MBAM is in the task tray if using the Pro version. Now reset any file exclusions as may be required in your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security/Firewall applications and restart your Anti-Virus/Internet-Security applications.

You may use the guides posted in the FAQ's here or ask me and I'll explain how to do it.

Thank You - :)

Thank you -

I did the following and still am receiving the same error. I uninstalled, restarted, cleaned, restarted, and reinstalled, disabled firewall, and updated.

Yes that is the correct error message. I copied it down verbatim.

I have a laptop and a desktop that I've downloaded this too. the laptop updated perfectly, now at version 4706. the desktop gives the error message:

MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING (122, 0, MultiByteToWide)

The data area passed to a system call is to small.

I am using CA Internet Security Suite 2010 from Time Warner Cable

thanks for assisting so far

I am using CA Internet Security Suite 2010 from Time Warner Cable
At this time there is a known conflict with CA Security and Malwarebytes -

The easiest method is to disable CA during updates and then re enable it after - There are a few exclusions that may help -

CA 2010

Open 'My Internet' section.

If found, open that up and click 'View Settings'.

Look for 'Identity Protection'

Scroll down to 'Trusted and Untrusted Sites'

Paste in the following: data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

Tick 'Trusted Site-always allow'

Click 'Add'

Click 'Apply' and reboot

See if that helps

Thank you -

It worked thanks, not sure why CA gave me no problem on my laptop, but problems with my desktop.

Also the correct way, for future reference, to maneuver through CA is as follows:

CA 2010

Start under "Home" icon

Go to 'My Internet' section.

click 'Update Settings'.

click "Settings"

click 'Browser Protection'

Scroll down to 'Set privacy Controls for Individual Sites'

Click 'Add'

Paste in the following: data-cdn.mbamupdates.com

Click 'Apply'

Thanks again for the prompt responses
